The first two weeks of art class are being spent going over introductions, classroom expectations, and of course, working on some important art skills. The 3rd-5th grade classes are working on creating unique FONTS. We are exploring bubble letters, block letters, spacing, and using shadows/ perspective. The students are doing so well with this! Check out the 'Art Links' page for a free online graffiti site! The 1st and 2nd graders are working on overlapping letters to create interesting shapes. Their abstract artworks are being filled in with solid colors and PATTERNS. The Kindergarten is starting with LINE work. They are practicing drawing, tracing, and naming a variety of lines. They are finishing by discussing their favorite type of line, tracing it with glue, and helping it stand out with glitter. You can see more examples in the 'Student Gallery'!

The "Many Colored Monsters" book could not be any more cute. These look like fun projects that really do embrace the notion that art is a form of expression. You are doing a great job :)
