WELCOME BACK!

It's that time of year again!  I'm so excited to welcome back all of my young artists!  This year is going to be so much fun as we advance our art education.  

We will start the year by going over our classroom expectations.  After that, we will dive right in.  

K-2 will be completing a shape, pattern, and creativity assessment.  They will be given instructions on different types of patterns to use in different shapes.  Then they will cut out their shapes and create a person.  We will do this again closer to the end of the year in order to show each student's progress over the year.

3-5 will be completing an elements of design worksheet.  This may be new and unfamiliar to many and that is okay.  We will complete the sheet at the beginning and again near the end of the year to show growth in both skills and knowledge.  The elements of design will be covered throughout the year.  They are the basic building blocks of art and design.  

For any of you readers that may have not seen the artroom before, this little area is probably the most popular with the students.  "The carpet" is a place where students can draw, color, play with blocks, create origami, weave, read, and relax.  Students can be found exploring this area after project completion or when they are in need of a short break.  It's my favorite spot too :).  Newly added this year are two mini workstation tables.
