REGARDING ART THERAPY

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Counseling with an Art Therapy Concentration at Wayne State University prepares students as counselors/art therapists who are eligible to earn both counseling (LLPC) and art therapy (A.T.R.) professional credentials following graduation.

Art therapy is the practice of counseling individuals of any age through the creation of art.  It integrates psycho-therapeutic techniques with the creative process to improve mental health and well-being.  Art therapists specialize in helping individuals with specific needs in individual or group settings.
A NOTE FROM LAUREN DZIADOSZ

Working in K-12 schools for the past 11 years has opened my eyes to the importance of providing individualization in teaching to meet the needs of EVERY student that passes through my classroom.  ALL students deserve the chance to equally improve and learn. Through the study of art therapy, my goal is to be able to provide a more substantial learning experience for each of my students by meeting their specific, individual needs and helping them grow in their own ways.
