These past few weeks have been very productive! Kindergarten through second grade have been discussing emotion and expression. After reading My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss, we discussed how color and images can represent feelings. We then created "Many Colored Monster" books. The students selected colors that represented different emotions. We practiced writing the feeling, discussed the feeling, and drew fun monsters that represented that feeling. Third through fifth grade have been working on mandalas. After exploring some information on the history of mandala making. We spent some time taking journeys into our imaginations. The students created their own safe spaces and used those locations as inspiration for their personal mandalas. You can check out a mandala prezi on the links page. Photos of the mandalas are posted in the student gallery.
